Summary

Join us for the Family Law Section's annual Special Issues in Custody and Representing
Minors program. This program covers the entire required annual training for new and
continuing Minors Counsel.
The discussion will include:
o Statutes, rules of court, and case law relating to child custody and visitation
litigation;
o Representing children in custody and visitation proceedings;
o Interviewing children at different stages of development;
o Presenting a child's view;
o Parents and children with special needs;
o Recognizing, evaluating and understanding evidence of child abuse and neglect,
family violence and substance abuse;
o Cultural and ethnic diversity; LGBTQI issues;
o Working with multidisciplinary experts;
o Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs);
o Secondary trauma/resiliency training;
o Domestic Violence Restraining Orders and Ex Partes on behalf of Children
