Employee Wage Claims – (Berman Hearings)

The Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE), more commonly referred to as the California Labor Commissioner, handles claims from employees involving unpaid or improperly paid compensation. This one-hour seminar will provide insight into that process, including guidance to employers and attorneys wishing to advise employers on what to do if they receive notice of an employee claim.

The steps involved with the process that will be discussed include:

~ Receiving a Notice of Claim and Conference
~ Attending the Claim and Conference
~ Receiving a Notice of Hearing
~ Attending the Berman Hearing
~ Receiving a Notice of Decision based on the Hearing
~ Appeal

Ms. Douglas is a trained and experienced litigator who protects her clients’ interests when litigation becomes necessary. Ms. Douglas graduated cum laude from the University of San Francisco Law School in 1994. As an employment lawyer Ms. Douglas recognizes the importance human resources plays in every business. Because of this she has since obtained her certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources from the HR Certification Institute.
